Leadership & Staff

Terry Tyrone Tapley, born in Gary, Indiana on December 7, 1962, is the pastor of Amos Temple, C.M.E. Church of Riverside, California. He has guided the congregation in building Godly relationships through worship, spiritual growth, and evangelism.

Reverend Tapley graduated from the University of Oregon where he received his undergraduate degree in physical education. He received a double masters in education from Concordia College and a Masters in Kinesiology from California Baptist College. Reverend Tapley furthered his academic studies in theology at Azusa Pacific School of Theology and Interdenominational Theology Seminary School.

As a teen, Tapley received his calling to the ministry, and preached his first sermon at the age of 17. He allowed the Holy Spirit to develop his understanding of the Scriptures and to sharpen his oratory skills in preparation for his approval to pastor in the C.M.E. church. He was ordained by Bishop E. Lynn Brown. In August 1980, Tapley received his license to preach.

His pastorates include North Fontana C.M.E. Church, 1997 – 1999, Fontana, California, Amos Temple C.M.E. Church, 1999- 2000, Riverside, California, Phillips Chapel C.M.E. Church, 2000-2004, Santa Monica, California, Greater Phillips C.M.E Church, 2004 to 2015, Compton, California. Amos Memorial C.M.E. Church 2016 - 2017, Los Angeles. Christ Temple C.M.E. Church 2018 – 2021, San Bernardino Ca. Amos Temple C.M.E Church 2021 to present.

Beyond his service to his local church, Rev. Tapley also serves on the district level as the president of the Ministerial Examination Committee, in addition to his service as the Finance chair of the Los Angeles District.

Rev. Tapley is happily married to his wife of 33 years, First Lady Teresa D. Tapley. They have one daughter, Briana. The family resides in Moreno Valley, California.
